World Read Aloud Day

Students at Tharptown Elementary School joined millions across the world in celebration of World Read Aloud Day on Feb. 16, 2017.

World Read Aloud Day is an important day as readers celebrate the importance of reading.  Reading takes us places. We wanted to take part in such a world-wide phenomenal event because we feel that reading is so vital in the everyday lives of people and helps to master our goals in life as successful citizens of the United States of America.

At TES, Mrs. Ann Scott, principal, Mr. Jonathan Odom, assistant principal, and Mrs. Susie Stockton, Reading Specialist, read books to students throughout the day.

The students designed index cards with their favorite book and drew a picture related to the book.  The cards will be made into grade level story quilts to be displayed for all to see.

A first grade student read a book aloud on the school intercom during morning announcements.

Teachers read to students throughout the day and took pictures of students during reading activities to post on a bulletin board.

Reach out to those who struggle in reading and help them to meet their goals in life and feel successful too!
